Innermost House – I Want a Place Like This or At Least the Feeling!

by Karen on February 15, 2012

I am still taking a break and praying for clarity but wanted to share one of the many things I am praying about…..how to make our home our retreat.

I don’t want this house nor do I want to get rid of everything and cut out the clutter completely.

But I do want the feeling………..can you feel it…...the peace……….the quiet…………..the tranquil?

She seems at peace with her life.  You can hear it in her voice.  That is what I want for me and my family.

I want our home to be our retreat………..our peace………….our quiet.

I want our home to be our escape from the “world” where Satan seems to reign on most days.

I want our kids and my husband to feel safe and at peace when they walk through our doors

I just want more than a 12 x 12 space to do this!!

Is your home your retreat?  And if it really is, how do you make it that way?

Our bedroom is my retreat. Once we realized how debilitating and serious my disease can be, we really stepped up our efforts to make our bedroom cozy. We have a king Tempurpedic bed (IMO absolutely necessary for anyone with chronic pain and/or those who have to spend a lot of time in bed). Our walls are a soothing blue grey, and we have solid grey bedding and curtains. Our only furniture is two vintage bedside tables and a built-in vanity, so the room is really simple, and has plenty of room for me to maneuver my wheelchair.

I’ll be interested to see what you do with your home. I personally — and selfishly — hope that you continue blogging. I would miss you if you left us.

I applaud them for taking this approach. I know my husband and I will want to have electricity but are looking to live in a more common environment. Maybe one day we’ll have our house on a 1/4 acre with a vegetable garden and chickens.

What you are describing is my life’s work. I write about it on my blog.
