We have a new devotional in our house this month. I should say my super hero has a new devotional that he loves and we…the rest of the family….might have taken it to use! The devotional published by Thomas Nelson and written by Penny Boshoff is one of our families favorite devotionals.
It has 365 daily devotions all dated for the year. I love that we can just flip to the date and know exactly where we are at in our book. This devotional is a great size, has great large printing, and has beautiful color pictures of real kids on each page. The pictures show the kids doing what the devotion talks about that day so it really comes to life.
The layout of the devotion is great for kids so they understand and can apply the devotion that day. Each day the devotion starts out with a paragraph about the subject we are learning and it explains in plain simple language what we are learning. For example…being naughty is one day. Then the second part of the page has a prayer for today so the kids can have words to talk to God to help them learn what to say to God. The last part of the devotion is a scripture reference that the kids can go look up to learn more about what they have learned.
We love this entire set up. In fact we love this so much that we just don’t have this for our boy who fits in the age group it was written for (5-10) but we use it for the entire family during Bible time in our homeschool. The devotions are easy to understand for everyone and there is easy life application too…. So that is why we may have not just let our superhero keep it in his room for his own quiet time. We all love it.
From the publisher:
God and Me aims to help children find out all about God: what He is like, how He cares for them, and how He wants them to live in His world. Familiar situations and everyday experiences encourage children to think about Christian values, a simple way of introducing a lifelong relationship with God.
Bite-sized devotions will keep the attention of younger children. Four-color photographs will help engage children with the message in the devotional. Each day includes a topical Scripture and a prayer to help children develop their relationship with God.
Do you want to win one of these fabulous devotionals for your child and your family?
Leave a comment answering one of these two questions.
1. Has your child ever told you that they’ve ‘felt’ or ‘seen’ God with them?
2. If “God is love”, then how would your kids define love?
I can’t wait to read your responses. I love reading what kids say and think. They are so real and honest!
This giveaway will end on Wednesday, March 12th at 9:00 AM!
I have been given a copy of “God and Me” devotional as a member of the Tommy Mommy team in exchange for my honest review. These thoughts are completely my own unless otherwise stated.
